Good chemistry: Kuala Lumpur
Article Abstract:
A complex deal pending in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, would give Tong Kooi Ong the majority stake in Kampong Lanjut Tin Dredging as it buys 20% of his flagship Phileo Allied company for some M$250 million or more. Lanjut will also buy Pan Built Construction for M$10 million and Phileo Promenade for M$468 million. When the dust settles Lanjut would have diversified from its money-losing tin operations into banking, construction, and development, while Tong will have overall control of the group and can reduce his debt via rights issues.

Towers of pride: the sky's no limit in affluent Kuala lumpur
Article Abstract:
The Petronas towers now under construction in Kuala Lumpur represent Malaysia's self-confidence, wealth and ambition in a city already replete with such symbols. These include the world's tallest flagpole in Merdeka Sq, Kuala Lumpur Tower, Promet Tower, and the Pilgrims Fund Mgmt Board HQ. The Petronas towers stand out even here, though, and will briefly be the tallest such structures in the world. Even that M$2 billion project pales next to the planned M$20 billion Putrajaya development.
