Article Abstract:
The development of the stress-transfer theory has been a significant step in earthquake research. This theory, which has attracted considerable attention, seeks to explain how an earthquake in one place will affect the probability of subsequent earthquakes in the same area. Ross Stein of the US Geological Survey has linked with other earthquake experts to develop a model to demonstrate this theory. It has been established that aftershocks congregate in the regions of increased stress as anticipated by the model.
