HFCL Q3 UP RECORD 80 PERCENT

Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd has increased its net profit by 80 percent to Rs13.1 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 1998 against Rs7.3 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 1997. The company's net turnover has increased by 92 percent to Rs95.34 crore from Rs49.51 crore. It has provided Rs1.8 crore for depreciation and Rs6.72 crore towards interest charges in the third quarter of 1998-99. The company has posted a gross profit of Rs30.82 crore on a turnover of Rs235.25 crore in the nine months ended December 31, 1998 against a gross profit of Rs12.79 crore on a turnover of Rs110.87 crore in the nine months ended December 31, 1997. HFCL IN TECH TALKS WITH AUSTRIAN CO

Himachal Futuristic Communication Ltd of Delhi is negotiating with Hierchamnn of Austria to source know-how for broadcasting radio equipment. It has recently tied-up with Rescom of Denmark to develop a range of radio transmission equipment. It is also negotiating with Canadian and South Korean firms for technology to develop telecom products based on satellite, radio and internet. The company has started a Rs100 crore capital expenditure programme to expand and introduce new telecom products. (khr)
