Framing China

Article Abstract:

US news organizations commit the cardinal sin in covering China of always portraying that nation in one overly simplistic frame. Stories about China tend to be governed by a single story, image or concept. These one-dimensional US frames of China change dramatically from decade to decade although the behavior of US media organizations does not. Such a reduction of that nation to an overly simplistic picture leads to many negative effects both direct and indirect including establishing a mindset for US visitors to China.
