Hierarchically integrated lot size optimization

Article Abstract:

A novel hierarchically integrated approach for improving the conceptual limitations of traditional production planning and control systems for make-to-stock job shop production is presented. It is shown that the hierarchical interdependence is not a top-down relationship but is supplemented by an explicit anticipation of the lower levels. The approach is superior to the deterministic multi level capacitated lot sizing model.

A general theory on spectral properties of state-homogeneous finite-state quasi-birth-death processes

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the development of a spectral theory which relates to quasi-birth-death processes and which can be used for stochastic phenomena modeling purposes. A matrix polynomial method is used to develop the theory.

Evaluating focused factory benefits with queuing theory

Article Abstract:

Research describing the focused factory concept is presented. In particular a production process using lead-time as a performance measure is evaluated with respect to queueing models.
