Holl picks holes in masonary tradition
Article Abstract:
Architect Steven Holl is the person who designed the Simmons Hall dormitory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The dormitory's massing resembles two Pac-Man figures set head to head and its cut-out shape relieves the 116m length of the structure, that allows it to have a series of open terraces and creates inserts for its major public sections.
