France to re-engine AMX-30 B2 MBTs
Article Abstract:
The French Army has placed an acquisition for 500 Renault Vehicules Industriels (RVI) Mack E9 diesel engines to re-power the GIAT Industries AMX-30 B2 tanks and specialized derivatives, including the 155mm GCT self-propelled howitzer and the AMX-30D armored recovery vehicle, which will stay in service for some years. The AMX-30 B2 started being built in 1966 driven by a Renault-made Hispano-Suiza HS-110 12-cylinder, water-cooled, multi-fuel engine, developing 720hp at 600 rpm, coupled to an SESM ENC 200 transmission.

Canada re-submits its ADATS offer to Greece
Article Abstract:
Canada has revived its offer of Oerlikon Aerospace/Lockheed Martin ADATS short-range air-defense system to the Hellenic Armed Forces. The Candian government has re-submitted its bid in the understanding that Greece is concerned about the survivability and mobility of the Russian Tor M-1 SHORAD missile system, which won over ADATS in Oct 1998. The Canadians are hoping that the Greeks would not exercise its option for an additional 29 Tor M-1 and instead choose ADATS.
