Toad Hall Toys won the Technology and Innovation Award from the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce due to the remarkable success of its Web site. Toad Hall sells educational toys that encourages children to think, learn and be creative. As much as 20% of its sales are generated through online transactions, although the company refuses to disclose financial figures. The US accounts for 85% of its online business, 5% come from Canada and other countries contribute the remaining 10%.

YNN's long wait for its big break
Article Abstract:
Youth News Network (YNN) of Montreal, Quebec, has suffered another set back when Manitoba's government told eight schools in the province to drop YNN after its six-month trial run. The network plans to broadcast in high schools a daily 10-minute newscasts with 2.5 minutes of commercials. In return, each school will receive $100,000 worth of equipment. YNN has already signed 25 schools across Canada, but has not yet signed any confirmed advertising clients.

PJ DDB is tops at Signature Awards

Palmer Jarvis DDB won eight awards in the 11th Annual Signature Awards given by The Advertising Association of Winnipeg. The advertising agency was recognized for the ad campaigns it created for the Pan Am Games, the Winnipeg Free Press and Manitoba Telecom Services. Among the awards it received was Best Horizontal/Vertical Outdoor and Street Level, Best Newspaper Single and Best Radio Series.
