Hull-mounted sonars attach themselves to Dutch frigates
Article Abstract:
STN Atlas has received a contract from the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) to supply four DSQS 24C hull-mounted sonars to equip the four LCF-type air-defense and command frigates of the De Zeven Provincien-class in 2000. The sonars were developed based on the concept of the earlier DSQS 21/23 family. The new systems will be similar in terms of functions and technology to the DSQS 24B sonar, which the company will supply to the German Navy's new F 124 frigates. STN Atlas said that the DSQS 24 series uses the latest signal-processing technologies, which include increased processing power.
