In their dreams

Article Abstract:

Sony is launching its new PlayStation PS2 which offers better graphics and symbolizes the company's internet aspirations. The company has seen a threefold rise in its stock price since early 1999, despite the strength of the Japanese yen, and thin margins which have affected profits. Critics argue that Sony has not changed its business model enough to be called an internet company. The PS2 is likely to be successful, but the company may not be as prepared for the internet as many investors believe.
