Insuring goods internationally

Article Abstract:

Ocean cargo insurance provides coverage for goods that are shipped internationally either by water or air from point of shipment to point of destination. The insurance covers perils such as theft or heavy weather. Most companies engaged in heavy traffic import or export rely upon the coverage which ends upon landing. The need to transport the goods over land creates the need for another type of insurance coverage which is inland marine coverage. The insurance covers both the policyholder's loss of goods or products in transit and the policyholder's liability arising from loss or damage to the property of another that is in their care, custody or control.
