The United Nations strongly urged to consider appointing an independent commission to review and investigate 'Oil for Food Programme' as, it is believed that serious transgressions have taken place and may still be taking place. The record of abuse in the oil for food lends credence to claims that the oil ministry list of people, who have received vouchers from the Iraqi government to purchase oil from the Oil for Food Programme at below market prices, is genuine.

Rompetrol S.P. of Romania is under scrutiny of the Romanian government for corruption. In the 1990's undervalued state properties in Romania were sold for not too much moneys and now the businesses are being turned over for a profit. The Romanian government is launching a business transparency and anticorruption campaign .

BP review of blast cites worry over cost cuts: some top officers see link to '05 refinery accident; outside report is to come

Article Abstract:

An iinternal review into a 2005 accident at BP PLC's Texas refinery raises concerns that cost-cutting, resulting in decreased safety, may have been a contributing factor. BP is facing a criminal investigation and civil suits; the accident killed 15 people and injured 180.
