Israeli fast attack vehicle on trial
Article Abstract:
Israeli Automotive Industries Ltd. (AIL) is testing the Desert Raider 6x6 reconnaissance, surveillance and fast attack vehicle which the company designed for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and AIL export customers' requirements. Desert Raider's gross weight of 2,600kg, with a disposable payload of 1,200kg, allows it to be transported aboard a CH-53 medium-lift helicopter and carry up to five fully armed troops. The vehicle also features a four-wheel rear suspension unit and uses a pivot axis that permits Desert Raider to run even with just one of its six wheels touching the ground. Desert Raider is powered by a four-cylinder fuel-injected 2.4 liter gasoline engine that produces 150hp at 5,200rpm, resulting to a maximum speed of 110km/h and a maximum range of 600km.

Underwater night vision for special operations

Technical Equipment International of Israel has increased its offerings of night-vision equipment for special operations forces. The company's line now features the Night Sentry M18UW, a monocular goggle that incorporates a Super Gen II 18mm image-intensification tube that is capable of operating at 50m depths and recognizing man-sized objects 150m away in starlight alone. Night Fighter M81 is a weapon sight capable of recognizing targets 285m away in starlight.

Israeli ACE-upgraded F-16 will take to the skies next year
Article Abstract:
A consortium led by Israeli Aircraft Industries is developing an Avionics Capabilities Enhanced (ACE) version of the F-16 fighter aircraft for the Israeli Defense Force/Air Force. The maiden flight of the ACE upgraded F- 16 is expected at the end of 2000. The ACE upgrade kit's potential export customers are owners of mid-life F-16s, including Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, Pakistan and Singapore.
