Issue is caught in tug of war

Article Abstract:

Strategic investors, or tycoons, and hedge funds are allegedly derailing what otherwise is a good investment track of China Telecom. The firm is considered AT&T's counterpart in Asia. Lately, hedge funds are short-selling the shares in anticipation that the tycoons may soon sell their shares. The tycoons control more than one-third of China Telecom's shares that change hands publicly. In effect, investors are momentarily staying away from the trading field, causing shares to slump.
