JAPAN: PLANSEE TEAMS UP WITH JAPAN VACS METAL

Article Abstract:

Plansee is getting better access to the Japanese market by taking a 50% stake in its cooperation partner Japan Vacs Metal Co Ltd. The Japanese company markets products out of high-performance materials to the semiconductor industry and for furnace production, for coating and for vacuum technology. With 80 staff and six regional offices it generates an annual turnover of about Sch 300mn. Through the Japanese partner, with which it set up the joint venture Vacs Precision K.K. in Esashi, Iwate, in 1989, Plansee will get facilities for engineering and assembling of components for the semiconductor industry in Japan.

AUSTRIA: PLANSEE GROWING BY ACQUISITIONS

Article Abstract:

Austrian Reutte-based Plansee group is planning further acquisition in order to strengthen its position in the core markets. Last year the metal producer took over firms in France, Spain and Japan. Plansee, which employs 4,900 staff worldwide, saw a 16% increase in turnover to Sch 5.6bn in the financial year 1999/2000.

ITALY/AUSTRIA: PLANSEE TAKES OVER NUOVA ALDAP

Article Abstract:

Plansee AG has entered the Italian market by taking over the hard metal manufacturer Nuova Aldap in the province of Como in a deal backdated to the beginning of year 2000. The Italian company with 115 staff generated a turnover of EUR 10.5mn in 1999.
