The Rs100-crore Panacea Biotech, which began its operations manufacturing various life-saving vaccinations, has now forayed into formulations and biological segments. It is now concentrating on manufacturing and selling formulations. Its list of products include Nimulid, Panimun Bioral, Alphadol, Enivac HB and Nimulid Gel. The company has undertaken a Rs50 crore expansion plan at its pharmaceutical complex in Punjab. For the quarter ended December 31, 1998, the company has posted net profit of Rs3.56 crore on turnover of Rs41.08 crore. It has recorded an operating profit of Rs5.84 crore, interest of Rs1.67 crore and Gross of profit Rs4.17 crore. Its depreciation provision was Rs0.61 crore and equity capital at Rs5.70 crore. SUN Q3 SALES UP 72% TO Rs90.43 Cr

Sun Pharma has posted 72 percent rise in sales to Rs90.43 crore for the third quarter of 1998-99 (Rs52.55 crore in the third quarter of 1997-98). Its net profit rose by 36.5 percent to Rs15.4 crore (Rs11.28 crore). Sun Pharma's direct exports reached Rs46.23 crore which was 84 percent more than Rs23.13 crore in the previous corresponding period. (gs)(m)
