Kool sophistication

Article Abstract:

Architect Rem Kookhaas revised his design for the Villa dall'Ava in the St Cloud area of Paris, France, during the four years which elapsed between commissioning and actual construction. The finished villa is a concrete box over a minimalist, glazed pavilion, and features a rooftop swimming pool and profiled aluminium cladding. It is split into two distinct areas, designated by independent internal circulation and by the external massing, and uses a range of materials and qualities of light inside. Its main aim is to be a house which is easy to live in.

Creating a sense of order in the material world

Article Abstract:

Architect, Bausman-Gill Associates has designed a suite of offices for Warner Brothers Records. The offices, on the 20 and 21st floors of a building in the Rockefeller Centre, New York, NY. are characterised by the use of light together with richly coloured and textured materials. The design was constrained by the services and structure of the building but , working with staff and other users of the offices, the architect has created a space which encourages sensory perception in a clam, ordered atmosphere.
