La CLE a r duit son d ficit en 1997 74 MF
Article Abstract:
In 1997, Compagnie Laiti re Europ ene (CLE) made a turnover of FFr 11.71bn, up 2.3% from 1996, for a deficit of FFr 74.167 compared with FFr 179.9mn in 1996. The rise in turnover is due to the better image of industrial products and the progress made by mass-market products. On the UHT cream market the Elvir subsidiary has grown twice as fast as the market while it has improved its market share for butter, a market which has declined 5%. On the camembert market, the Compagnie de France's Coeur de Lion brand is still the leader even though its volume sales have decreased slightly. The growth in coulommier and brie sales have not made up for this decline in camembert sales. It has maintained the sales volume for drinking milk in both France and Belgium. In the near future, CLE is counting on a return to profit due to its innovation policy and its cost reduction efforts.

Le groupe Andr Glon d veloppe, dans la volaille, un nouveau march tourn vers les industriels et la restauration hors foyer
Article Abstract:
The Andr Glon group reported a 1997 turnover of FFr 4bn, of which one half was in the animal nutrition sector. The other half was realised through its subsidiaries, notably Boscher Volailles, the company specialising in the slaughter and processing of chickens (turnover FFr 280mn), Robichon, the company specialising in the manufacture of poultry sausages and cooked meats (mainly poultry) which reported a turnover of FFr 110mn, and Rohan Viande Elaboration. Controlled at 40% by Andr Glon, this firm (turnover FFr 227mn) specialises in the cutting and processing of poultry and pork. To differentiate itself from the competition, Andr Glon is moving into the large chicken market (2.7-3kg), a product destined for the food industry and to caf s, hotels and restaurants. The group presently produces 230,000 large chickens per week, compared to 106,000 in 1997.
