Reports that people have contracted Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has caught health officials in China on the wrong foot and reveals failures inherent in the health care system in the country. Experts feel that the outbreak can be contained but many believe there are too many laboratories connected with SARS research and this could be the cause for poor controls.
