Article Abstract:
Four French-language public networks, France 2, France 3, La Sept and Art- La Cinquieme, are being forced to cut their advertisement inventory. The move would mean revenue losses equivalent to C$375 million. In a bill first proposed by Catherine Trautmann, the networks will reduce the 12 minutes per hour advertising they are allowed to air to five minutes. However, the National Assembly is expected to pass a legislation that would cut Trautmann's proposal to 10 and eight minutes in the first and second year, respectively.

Article Abstract:
The French group Alcatel, and the US company Ascend, have formed an alliance concerning rapid Internet access solutions. Alcatel has revealed that it could purchase several US companies concerned with Internet solutions. The Ascend/Alcatel alliance will include developing an access gateway to IP services (based on Ascend's new generation IP transfer technology, and Alcatel's software network), and the development of a high throughput router.
