Losers, always

Article Abstract:

The issue of Palestinian refugees is a difficult one to solve. Israel opposes a return to the 1967 definition of Israel, while the Palestinian Liberation Organization wants refugees to be allowed to return or be provided with compensation. There has been no agreement between Arabs and Israel on how to define a Palestinian refugee. Israeli prime minister, Ehud Barak, argues that a solution for refugees should be found where they are located. Meanwhile, Yasser Arafat is seeking to speak for all refugees, including those in Lebanon, and aims to find a national consensus on this issue.

Wye, or not?

Article Abstract:

Relations between Palestinians and Israel worsened while Binyamin Netanyahu was prime minister of Israel, and they initially improved when he was replaced by Ehud Barak. Yasir Arafat wants the Wye agreement to be implemented rapidly, and he would face criticism from his supporters if he failed to achieve this. There is concern in Palestine that Barak may seek to delay implementation of the Wye agreement, but trust can only be achieved if the agreement is implemented.
