Low profile electric tractor

Article Abstract:

John Bradshaw has introduced a new electric tow-tractor, called the T6 Lowline. The equipment is a variant of the T6 seven-tonne four-wheeled tow-tractor which features a lowered floor to provide easier access for the driver. It features a 7 tonne towing capacity and capability to be operated for a standard eight-hour shift between charging which are similar to the standard vehicle. It is designed for applications wherein the driver frequently has to step on and off the vehicle.

Towbarless tractor under test

Article Abstract:

German manufacturer GHH Fahrzeuge has introduced the AM500 towbarless tractor in Jun 2000. The first demonstration unit has been delivered to KLM for testing at Amsterdam Schiphol. Further demonstrations early in 2001 are expected at Frankfurt Airport in conjunction with Lufthansa LEOs. The tractor isd designed to carry out push-back and long distance towing for widebody aircraft including the Boeing 747/767/777 and Airbus 300/310/330/340.

New tug under test

Article Abstract:

S and S-TUG is developing the M3A/C electric tow-tractor which features an AC drive system from Ecostar. Voltage is supplied from an 80V DC industrial battery and then inverted to a three-phase 80V AC supply through an Ecostar electric drive system inverter/controller. The advantages of an AC over DC drive include lower maintenance costs, better speed control and improved electrical power efficiency.
