Volkswagen's net jumps on restructuring gains

First-quarter earnings for automobile maker Volkswagen AG more than doubled, due primarily to restructuring efforts and higher car sales. Shares closed at 115.22 euro, sales saw a 5.1% increase to 26.64 bil euro, and net rose from 327 mil euro last year to 740 mil euro this year.

VW buys Scania stake in $4.37 billion deal

Germany's Volkswagen AG has purchased control of Sweden's truck manufacturer Scania AB for $4.37 bil. The deal gives Volkswagen 68.6% of the firm's voting shares, and make signal further consolidation in the worldwide truck sector.
