Via Technologies challenges Intel again

Article Abstract:

Taiwan-based Via Technologies Inc. has adopted a low-end microprocessor strategy in order to try to increase its share of the global central-processing-unit market. In order to compete with rivals like Intel Corp., the company plans to provide inexpensive microprocessors to Chinese and Indian markets, a tactic that depends on the continuing decline of personal computer prices.

MPI stock is deemed a buy amid drop despite downward turn in chip market

Article Abstract:

Investment analysts have identified Malaysian Pacific Industries stocks as a good buy despite the 21 percent decrease in the company's stock prices. Observers believe that the decrease in the demand for computer parts will have a minimal effect on MPI's sales. Company production has been spreaded out to other applications such as telecommunications and automobiles. As a result, MPI's 1995 sales is expected to increase by 20 to 30 percent compared to 1995.

Slowdown could yield gems

Article Abstract:

Financial analysts believe that the financial crisis, which is causing a decline in the prices of blue chip stocks, is diverting investor attention from small-cap stocks. Analysts advise investors to take the opportunity to look for bargains in the small-cap sector. Firms such as semiconductor assembler AIC Corp. education firm Inti Universal Holdings are cited as good buys. AIC is expanding into the foreign chip market, which would provide it with the potential to earn foreign currency revenues.
