MRTPC TO CONTINUE WITH ENQUIRY AGAINST BAJAJ AUTO

Article Abstract:

The Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) will continue its enquiry against Bajaj Auto Ltd, based on a complaint filed by the Director (Research), MRTPC, for its alleged involvement in unfair trade practices. The complaint alleged that Bajaj Auto was involved in unfair trade practices for floating a price scheme based on a draw of lots, wherein it offered prizes worth Rs10 lakh to the buyers of Bajaj two- wheelers. MRTPC STAYS COLGATE CDC-DC NEW AD

Article Abstract:

The Monopolies & Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) has barred the advertisement campaign of Colgate Palmolive Ltd (CPL). The advertisement claims that new dental cream double protection is two and a half times better than any ordinary toothpaste. The prohibitory order was passed on November 8, 1998, on a complaint by Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL). HLL contended that the advertisement was false and misleading. (uh)

MRTPC CURBS P&G FROM TELECASTING WHISPER AD

Article Abstract:

The Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) has banned the telecasting of Procter & Gamble's (P&G) Whisper brand of sanitary napkins till August 12, 1998. Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has filed a petition against the P&G advertisement which talks of cheaper brands of sanitary napkins hitting at J&J's Stayfree Secure, a lower-end product. (rk)
