MUDRA REGISTERS 20% RISE IN CAPITALISED BILLINGS

Article Abstract:

The capitalised billings of Mudra Communications increased by 20 percent to Rs450 crore in 1997-98 (Rs375 crore in 1996-97). It plans to focus on outdoor advertising, exhibition designing and consumer fairs. It has postponed its plans of hiving off Mudra International as a separate company. Its proposed joint ventures with agencies in Sri Lanka, Kenya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates have been put on hold. DDB Needham holds 10 percent stake in Mudra Communications. The company is setting up an outdoor advertising agency, Primesite Outdoor Systems in association with Vertigo of the US. It has projected capitalised billings of Rs525 crore for 1998-99. (rk)

MUDRA TO UP OUTDOOR ANTE THROUGH VERTIGO ASIA JV

Article Abstract:

The advertising agency, the Rs375 crore Mudra Communications Ltd (MCL) has entered into a 51:49 joint venture with Vertigo Asia, Hong Kong for outdoor advertising. Vertigo Asia will supply hardware and technical expertise to MCL. Vertigo Asia is involved in outdoor advertising, signage production, sports marketing and consultancy services. The new company will have six directors in its board with equal representation of both the partners. The joint venture will develop a national outdoor advertising system. MCL's division, Landmark currently caters to the lower-end outdoor hoarding/media business. (rk)

FCB TARGETS FULL-SERVICE AGENCIES IN INDIA

Article Abstract:

Foote Cone Belding, a global advertising network, has begun negotiations to acquire full-service agencies in India. It already has a 51 percent stake in FCB Ulka which may be increased in due course. The company is studying prospective acquisitions along the parameters of culture fit and creative skills. The acquired agencies are have a different profile from FCB Ulka and will complement it.
