Making the headlines

Article Abstract:

The leveraged buyout of Le Figaro by US equity house Carlyle Group and leading French press group Socpresse was supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland Leveraged Finance Group France. It was established that the sale of a minority stake in Le Figaro would make it possible to complete the debt reduction programme and allow Socpresse to have sufficient resources for further development. The acquisition structure allowed Socpresse to remain in control of Le Figaro while guaranteeing the newspaper's editorial independence. Carlyle will hold genuine power of control over the management of Le Figaro group.
