Managing change: Clore Management Centre, Birkbeck College, London
Article Abstract:
Stanton Williams has been responsible for designing the Clore Management Centre for Birkbeck College in London, England. This building is located at the end of a late Georgian terrace. It does not seek to reproduce this terrace, but makes some references to it. Stanton Williams wanted the bricks to have the same feel as the local bricks, but did not want London stocks. Apart from a panel at the back of the building, the bricks were laid in standard stretcher bond, a deliberate differentiation from the neighbouring old brickwork.

How Cambridge chooses
Article Abstract:
Cambridge University clients described the process of selection for architectural work on the Jesus College Library, Downing College, The Judge Institute of Management Studies and the Law Faculty. The college and university methods of selection varied greatly, for example the shortlist for the selection process was drawn up by the estates manager for the Faculties whereas the colleges handled all candidates first-hand. All clients were happy with the completed work.
