Many obstacles still lie ahead
Article Abstract:
The Indian economy is growing at a rate of 6%, and benefits are being enjoyed from information technology and knowledge industries. The government is taking a friendlier approach to business, though the pace of reform has not always been rapid. Privatization plans are modest. Progress is being made in some areas such as a start in a plan to reduce subsidies. There is a need to make further progress, and this would help to boost low levels of foreign investment in India.
