DBS boycotts four firms

Article Abstract:

Four mortgage companies, namely Allied Dunbar, the Mortgage Operation, Scotlife Homeloans and Legal & General, are being boycotted by the UK mortgage broker DBS Network because they are not disclosing their full fees to customers. Clause 119 of the mortgage code says that packagers do not have to reveal the fees they gain from lenders but DBS says it will not carry our business with packagers who do not carry out full fee disclosure. Clause 119 is currently under review and the Council of Mortgage Lenders and the Mortgage Code Register of Intermediaries are due to take a stance on it in the autumn.

Fair fees or fair game?

Article Abstract:

The Assn of Professional Designers of Germany created a scheme for paying marketing design services. Its Fee Guide is based on three realities: the client's stature as an enterprise, the inherent value of the project, and the regional scope of the project. Data in each of the three categories were coded with a set of numbers ranging from 50 at the top to 10 at the bottom. The three values are multiplied to reach 125,000 at the high end or 1,000 at the low end.
