Teck Cominco Ltd. of Canada has offered $15.35 billion United States Dollars in an unsolicited acquisition bid for Inco Ltd. also of Canada. The acquisition would create a mining industry giant. Share offer price was $68.76 per share.

Rival Canadian miners to create nickel giant

Inco Ltd. of Canada is to acquire Falconbridge Ltd. also of Canada for approximately $10.8 billion to create the largest nickel producer in the world. The combined mining interest is expected to save $350 million in annual costs.
