Article Abstract:

Birla AT&T has appointed Quadrant Communications of Pune to promote its cellular brands. Its ad campaign line Strive, Survive, Surpass aims to communicate that the Birla AT&T Cellular Service is the most needed equipment in the current work environment. The company has allocated Rs75 crore budget for this campaign on all India basis. Its market share had almost doubled during its previous ad campaign during November 1997 to August 1998 taking its subscriber base to around 70,000. But the company admits that the subscriber base is small compared to the market potential. The brand has a 55 percent market share in Maharashtra and 60 percent in Gujarat. It is targeting over 120,000 subscriber base during this ad campaign. (gs)

MODICOM PULLS OUT OF COAI, MODI-TELSTRA MAY FOLLOW SUIT

Article Abstract:

Modicom, a cellular operator has decided to cancel its membership from Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) following removal of Mr BK Modi from the post of chairman of the COAI. Modi Telstra, another company, in which Mr BK Modi holds the chairman post is also likely to follow the suit. According to Mr BK Modi, the election which was scheduled to take place on 31, July, but it was held in advance by one day and was held in absence of Mr BK Modi. (gs)
