NH 90 production run heads for 1,200

Article Abstract:

NH Industries (NHI) procured in late 2000 the first NH 90 long-lead items under a $6.14-billion production investment and series production contract signed in June this year. Under the associated quadrilateral French- German-Italian-Netherlands Memorandum of Understanding, the contract requires the eventual purchase of 595 helicopters. According to NHI officials, combined export sales for Tactical Transport Helicopter and NATO Frigate Helicopter could reach 600, bringing the total production run to almost 1,200.

Dutch move with Leopard 2 ammunition upgrade

Article Abstract:

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall GmbH will supply, respectively, 192 120mm L55 smoothbore tank gun barrels and an initial quantity of 16,000 rounds of improved DM53 120mmx570 kinetic energy ammmunition to the Netherlands. The order is to further upgrade 180 Royal Netherlands Army Leopard 2A5 main battle tanks to 2A6 standard. The cost of the gun upgrade is valued at NLG109 million, and the ammunition procurement amounts to NLG113 million.

US industry lines up for contract to upgrade TOW missile

Article Abstract:

The US Army will launch a program to upgrade its existing TOW anti-tank guided missile. The $2-billion TOW Fire & Forget (Tow F&F) program will replace the cancelled Follow-on to TOW program. The TOW F&F program specifies the development of a long-range, heavy close combat assault weapon for anti-tank, anti-armor, anti-helicopter, bunker assault and infantry fire support missions.
