NORDIC: UNIDANMARK EXPANDS IN ASSET MANAGEMENT
Article Abstract:
Through its subsidiary Tryg-Baltica's acquisition of the Norwegian insurance company Vesta, the Danish financial group Unidanmark continues its expansion on the asset management market. The aim is to reach a volume of DKr 350bn (USD 47bn) in this field by the end of 2001, and through the latest take-over, the group reaches about DKr 300bn. CEO Thorleif Krarup, Unidanmark, says the group will reconsider Vesta's agreement with the Swedish insurance company Skandia about the distribution of united linked products, but adds that this provides an excellent platform for future sales of unit linked products, unit trust certificates etc.

GREENLAND: OIL PROSPECTING TO BEGIN NEXT SUMMER
Article Abstract:
Next summer, Dansk Olie & Naturgas (DONG), Statoil, Phillips and Nuna Oil will begin prospecting for oil and gas at Greenland's west-coast. Surveys have shown that there might be reserves outside Simimiut. DONG also has a license for prospecting in the Fylla field outside Nuuk. As geological conditions are difficult in this arctic area, specific know-how is required. DONG says the company has competence in this field, and will develop it further.
