National Semiconductor's results beat lowered expectations in period

National Semiconductor Corp. posted higher-than-expected earnings for the fiscal fourth-quarter ending May 27, 2001. The company posted a $44.4 million (52.4 million euros) net loss for the period, compared to $153.9 million in net income during the same 2000 period.
