Pres Clinton had a difficult time choosing a replacement for retiring Justice Byron White. His nominee, Ginsburg, was a good choice and is expected to be easily confirmed. Expectations that difficulties would arise as a result of her former arguments against 'Roe vs Wade' did not materialize.

Curiously cautious O'Connor

Sandra Day O'Connor, in her 16 years on the Supreme Court, has staked out the political center in virtually every decision she has made, refusing to display strong decisiveness on any issue. While Republicans protest judicial activism, her judicial restraint is just as bad.
