Nonverifiability, noncontractibility and ownership determination models in foreign direct investment, with an application to foreign operations in Japan
Article Abstract:
Utilization of three interrelated ownership determination models in foreign direct investment revealed the significance of foreign operation on optimal ownership structure. The models revealed that optimal ownership structure relies heavily on foreign operation's pattern of inputs and output. The issue of ownership structure becomes less important whenever the foreign parent firm's foreign operation can be contracted out with expected results.
