Article Abstract:
The trade gap between the US and Japan is growing, but the US should give serious thought to any actions designed to reduce the gap. A growing trade deficit with West Germany in 1987 led to criticism by the US, which affected the currency and bond markets and contributed to the stockmarket crash.

As Japan goes?
Article Abstract:
Japan's recession is likely to damage the economies of region and perhaps the world unless the country acts decisively to rescue its economy. The country needs to loosen its monetary policy while the US needs a tighter policy.
