The greatest jazz music came from collaboration between gifted soloists and their fellow artists. This is illustrated by two books, 'Lush Life: A Biography of Billy Strayhorn' and 'Charlie Parker: His Life and Music,' and a six CD-set featuring the collaboration of Miles Davis and Gil Evans.

How jazz went back to its roots

Article Abstract:

Jazz has undergone many changes through the years. The original sound was replaced by bebop, created by experimenting musicians. Other changes included experimental free jazz. In the 70s jazz-rock fusion became popular. Musicians like Wynton Marsalis are returning to the classical sound.
