On the top in saving in building societies

Article Abstract:

Czech Republic: A total of 1.25 mil contracts on saving in building societies were arranged in 2000, 20% more compared to 1999. There were a total of 3.68 mil contracts on saving in building societies and the volume of the deposits of building societies was CEK 110 bil in the Czech Republic as of the beginning of 2001. The Czech Republic overtook Austria and got to the top in Europe in saving in building societies with 110 contracts per 1,000 inhabitants.

Burza cennych papiru Praha (BCPP) (Prague, Czech Republic), stock-exchange, expects a profit of CEK 7 mil in 2001. BCPP's 2000 profit amounted to CEK 32.369 mil, the highest sum in its history. Finances from the 2000 profit will be used for further development, mainly for the purchase of modern information technology. The members of the stock-exchange's chamber and supervisory board were elected at BCPP's general assembly in Jun 2001.

CMSS balances and changes

Article Abstract:

Ceskomoravska stavebni sporitelna (CMSS) (Prague, Czech Republic), building society, arranged 437,851 contracts in 2000. Clients deposited a total of CEK 40.1 bil at CS. The firm became the leader on the Czech market and the second building society in Europe. It saw a net profit of CEK 412 mil in 2000. CS's stock is CEK 1.5 bil and its balance sum was CEK 47.1 bil as of 31 Dec 2000.
