Osprey hydraulics failure

Article Abstract:

A Bell Boeing MV-22 Osprey's fatal crash in Dec 2000, has been confirmed as caused by a No 1 hydraulics system failure which was compounded by an error in software inputs to the flight control systems. An investigation conducted by the US Marine Corps has revealed that the aircraft was beginning a transition into helicopter mode when the crew identified a problem. There is no suggestion that any falsification of records might have compromised flight safety of the Osprey.
