ABK slams Mather's Keble College extension

Article Abstract:

An award winning single-storey building at Keble College, Oxford University may be demolished and rebuilt as a four-storey accommodation block if architects Rick Mather Architects is given permission. The new building has been heavily criticised by the designer of the original award winning structure, claiming it will totally conflict with the appearance of other buildings at the college.

Oxford U-turn over Bodleian Library 'theme park' plans

Article Abstract:

Oxford University has withdrawn is plans to turn the Old Bodleian Library into a tourist attraction following objections. It is now considering drawing up a revised proposal for the project UKPd1.5 million scheme.

Downing College scheme won by Bland, Brown and Cole

Article Abstract:

The contract to design new facilities for Downing College, Cambridge, England, has been awarded to Bland, Brown and Cole. The redevelopment, which will include a sports hall, a social centre and around 100 graduate-accommodation bedsits, will be undertaken in units, creating small courts rather than a single large block. The work will be undertaken gradually as funds become available.
