Pan Asia Commercial Bank incurs $153.8 million loss after provision

Article Abstract:

Pan Asia Commercial Bank posted a NT$5.1 billion (US$153.8 million) provisional loss for the 1998 year. This represented one of the largest corporate losses in Taiwan's history. Banks in Taiwan are working to cope with increasing bad debts. Pan Asia attributed the loss to NT$7.3 billion in provisions for possible losses from bad loans. The bank is the 30th largest bank in Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Finance in Taiwan.
