Patriot games
Article Abstract:
There is strong support in Wales for the survival of Welsh language skills. However, only one in five residents of Wales is able to speak Welsh, and few do so regularly. Some observers feel that Welsh-speakers, although in a minority, are now becoming too dominant. There is particular concern that the Welsh Language Act of 1993, which gave Welsh and English equal status, has been more favourable towards Welsh than towards English. Supporters of Welsh have sometimes used intimidatory tactics to promote Welsh, even in parts of Wales where there are very few people who can speak Welsh.

Patriot games
Article Abstract:
British politicians are debating the meaning of Britishness. Prime minister, Tony Blair, sees it as involving a sense of fair play and tolerance, while valuing strong families and communities. The notion of Britishness has been affected by constitutional change and relations with Europe. Conservative leader, William Hague, associates the British currency with the notion of Britishness, and he argues that England is at a disadvantage following devolution for Scotland. There can be positive results of both sides argue strongly about the issue.
