Fiscal slip of Tung boosts his Hong Kong candidacy
Article Abstract:
C.H. Tung, owner of the debt-laden Orient Overseas Container Line, has emerged to be the strongest contender for Hong Kong's chief executive post. His integrity and excellent negotiating skills impressed his former creditors at the time debt restructuring for his ailing firm was being made. Tung's links with China as Hong Kong Gov. Chris Patten's adviser, gives him an edge over the publicly supported contender, Chief Secretary Anson Chan.
