Paying your dues
Article Abstract:
Expatriates in Switzerland will discover that the country's social security and tax laws are very different from those of their native countries. In the case of taxes, the rates vary widely depending on the canton and all income including that of the spouse is subject to tax regardless of origin. Furthermore, tax is collected in support of either the Roman Catholic or Reformed Church, in case the expatriate becomes a registered member of any of these two official Swiss churches. As for social security, no caps exist.

Your Swiss social security
Article Abstract:
The Swiss social security has issued the 10th revision of its guidelines which doubles the contributions of expatriates working in Switzerland while retaining the same level of benefits. The move was made by the Swiss government in response to the projected rise of retirees in relation to the working population. The projected shift in the population could possibly disrupt the nation's ability to give benefits to its retirees. Hence, social security contributions were raised to stabilize the funding level.
