Article Abstract:

Plansee AG, which generates 80% of its turnover in Europe, 10% in America and 10% in Asia, aims to raise the shares of the latter two regions to 25% each. This is despite the fact that in 1997 the company's sales in Europe increased 20% and those in America and Asia stagnated. Altogether the producer of hard alloys (Plansee Tizit), high-melting metals and sintered steel (joint venture with Thyssen of Germany) saw a 17% increase in turnover to Sch 4.6bn, with double-digit growth rates in all product groups. Beside the automotive industry, growth was generated with clients in the fields of lighting, electronics, and aviation and space.
