Poland rolls out final variant of Grom shoulder-launched SAM
Article Abstract:
ZM Mesko of Poland is set to begin full production of the final version of the Grom shoulder-fired surface-to-air missile (SAM). The SAM, which is similar in external appearance to the Russian Igla missile, has been undergoing product development since 1992. ZM Mesko's latest Grom, whose presursors have been in service with a number of Polish Army units since 1996, has incorporated such new features as thermal batteries, seekers and miniaturized electronics.

Armored ELINT system on course as Poland approves export
Article Abstract:
The Polish Defense Ministry has approved the export of an armored wheeled electronic intelligence (ELINT) system. The unit, known as the Mobile Radar Emitter Reconnaissance Sensor- (MUR) 20, has been field-tested by the Army in 1999 and is just entering series production. The MUR-20 ELINT unit, which will be available for between $5-7 million each, is set to be designated as MOSTAR-2 and will be offerred to countries such as Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Dasa's MiG-29 proposals package makes inroads in Poland
Article Abstract:
Daimler-Benz Aerospace (Dasa) has offered a package of proposals for Poland's MiG-29 upgrade program that are currently being evaluated by the Polish Air Defense and Aviation Force, said Horst Muckley, managing director of the company's MAPS unit. The upgrade package includes four MiG-29 upgrade configurations, such as the Stage One (ICAO-1) which allows the aircraft to operate within NATO airspace. ICAO-2, or the level two upgrade, is the modernization of the aircraft's avionics, Stage Three is the addition of capability for firing Western guided air-to-surface weapons to the aircraft and Stage Four is the installation of new radar and glass cockpit.
