CMN spins into The Record's void

Article Abstract:

A new music industry trade publication called Canadian Music Network (CMN) is scheduled to have its debut in May 2001. The magazine's name has been licensed from the Australian Music Network, whose publisher, John Woodruff, is also CMN's co-publisher. CMN will fill a void left by the demise of RPM, Canada's oldest music industry periodical. Brian Robertson, president of the Canadian Recording Industry Assn, said the new publication is timely since music is a C$1.4 billion industry in Canada.

People is an American magazine on the Canadian stands since the past year and a half and the PMB result is a rejoicing matter, but a cause of concern for the Canadian magazines. With the positive result for People, it is possible that other American magazines with large Canadian circulation may want to make their presence felt.
