Private-equity investors find prospects galore in 1998

Article Abstract:

Private equity investors predict that the Asian currency crisis would bring about opportunities as lending would likely come from venture capital funds. Venture capital funds are currently valued at about $10 billion which is likely enough to fill the gap between businesses and capital. Investment advisers maintain that growth sectors would include manufacturing and other sectors whose companies meet consumer demand for goods and services.

Overseas M&A frenzy stings: Japan auto-parts firms need to shift gears

Article Abstract:

Investment advisers maintain that auto parts suppliers should start opening production facilities abroad as automakers are no longer content on letting subsidiaries handle production and are beginning to outsource. Chris Redl of of Morgan Stanley in Tokyo maintains that profits will decline as a result of increased consolidation and there are only a few auto parts makers that are in a good position to handle the change.

Investment advisers say that auto parts maker Halla Climate Control is the best buy in the South Korean automobile securities markets. South Korean auto makers are suffering from increased competition and decreased domestic vehicle sales that will sure depress profit levels while Halla has a diversified investment base and cutting edge technology that is sure to keep it a market leader.
